Career spike program

Have been thinking about this for sometime now. Career development is an art! An art so fine that not many are masters of it. Some of the common problems that i see are

1. Mixing up of job and career and not knowing the difference between the two
2. Delegating or expecting someone else to manage ones career. E.g. expecting the manager to take care of career growth
3. Waiting for opportunities and not claiming opportunities
4. Lack of awareness of the organizational ecosystem and failure to tap it
5. Lack of political sensitivity, the art of knowing when to speak what and how to get it right
6. Lack of public speaking skills
7. Lack of influencing skills

I am not aware of people who have converted this into a business model. I think it has a good market with clientele who are with 0 to 2 years experience.

Screen casts

I have been involved in producing some screencasts for my company's product and the experience has been good. Producing a professional screencast internally is a challenge. I am not talking about a straight demo recording but a real professional screencast which has a good dose of animation, graphics, product demo and a professional voice.

Screencasts of this nature need a really good production line with a well laid out plan. They come with a good chunk of cost involved and mostly the cost lies in the animation and audio recording phases. These are phases which need several iterations and reviews.

We are using Adobe Captivate and i have tried Wink before which i feel is a very good free alternative. It is also a product from an Indian programmer! :-)

Enterprised rises again

I am bringing back my old blog to life from today. It is now three years since this blog has been active! I have been bitten by the blog bug again and here i go. This time however i want to keep it very free form and I would like to think of it as a ride in the woods on a bicycle, simple, enjoyable and free of CO2 :-)
